Canva is simply an all-in-one graphic design tool that’s easy and fun to use. It is a must tool for marketers in basically all industries. With Canva you have the ability to create beautiful images for your social accounts . Create logos, short videos, landing pages, infographics, background remover and lots lots more. There is a free and paid version. In today’s money making idea we will use the free version.

Creating a Canva Video Template

Let’s dive in and make our very own video template using the free version of Canva.

Register or Sign in to Canva

First step is to create a Canva account here Canva.com. The process is easy and straight forward. You can register using a google account or with a new email.

Once logged in you will see this screen.

How to create your video template

Next step is to hover over templates at the top and find the option ‘Youtube Intros’, click this option. It will bring you to this screen.

Canva Video Templates

In the main body of the front page you will see a list of templates. Some of these will be for the paid version. To see the free templates click the Free option under the Price heading on the left side of the screen.

From here you can see the entire list of free video templates that can be entirely customized or you have the option of creating your own template from scratch.

In this example we chose the ‘Travel Blog’ template. To further customize this template hover over the template until you see three horizontal dots, click on them and scroll down the options and click the ‘Customize this template’. This will open another screen which will allow you to customize all aspects of this template.

Customizing the template

We now are faced with this screen. Customizing this template is a breeze, Canva is very intuitive. It is as easy as clicking a section of the template and changing it as you desire.

Canva customization

Changes we can make include the Channel name, name of the vlog, background color, enlarge the square, change fonts, length of video. By the end of customization it wont look anything like the original.

We can use the existing video template to sell on Etsy but I would recommend you make some modifications to make it look original. By doing so you create your very own original video template. Below I have customized our video template, the result is shown below. Press play to see the finished product.

Our completed video template

Now that we have our video template it’s time to create our listing on Etsy and sell our new video template.

Make a listing on Etsy

Register an account with Etsy as shown below.

Register with Etsy

Once we register and login to Etsy search ‘video intro’ we can see hundreds of listing that sell video intros. I would hazard a guess and say some of them would have been created from Canva.

It’s time to first settle on a price to sell your intro and create a listing. Creating a listing is done by clicking the ‘shop manager’ icon in the top right hand corner, then click ‘Listing’ and then ‘Your Shop’. From there click ‘Add listing’.

Step 1: Add photos and video

Step 2: Choose your thumbnail image

Step 3: Add listing details

Step 4: Describe your listing

Step 5: Add your inventory and pricing

For digital items: Add files

Step 6: Set up shipping

Step 7: Marketing

Step 8: Publish or save your listing

Can I bulk create listings?

For a details guide on creating your listing please visit here. This is a comprehensive guide that will make creating yours easier.

****** TIP – Here’s a valuable tip when creating your listing. Don’t try and reinvent the wheel here. Before creating your listing spend an hour or so to research what and how other sellers are doing. Please remember don’t directly copy anything as this wont help you rank and sell your own intros. My suggestion is to check out their thumbnails, their descriptions, titles etc. Try and make yours unique and stand out from the crowd. This will help with people finding your listing.

Create more listings.

Once you get the hang of creating listings in Etsy there’s no reason why you cannot create new Canva video templates. Once you do that, sell this also by creating a new Etsy listing. This will increase your chances of making sales and therefore more money.

Other places to sell your Canva Video Templates

Etsy is not the only place to sell your video intros. There are many such places, a couple of popular ones that I have used in the past and are popular is fiverr.com and picoworkers.com. These are two large sites that receive a lot of traffic and therefore can provide with free traffic. Follow the steps below to completely setup your new listing.

Final Thoughts

So, if you want to make some extra money and have a little bit of creative flair, give video intro creation using Canva a try! You can start by creating a free account on Etsy and then uploading your new creations. Once you get started, the possibilities are endless!. This may seem a simple method but if you notice the amount of reviews received on the existing Etsy listing you begin to realize that there is a high demand for this service.
