The methods we will discuss today will cost you nothing but time. Now some of you may place a dollar value on your time in which case, technically these traffic sources we will discuss in this blog post are not really for FREE pre se. Just so we get that straight. On saying that most beginners will start by using free traffic sources and if and when they reach a level of success they will invariably turn to some form of paid traffic.

The reality is that, the more experienced you become the more automation you will apply to some of these methods to free you up your time. The more popular social media platforms are Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok. When I start a project these are must have’s. Some will say that a particular platform may not suit your particular niche. I say, give them a go and if you see one or two that grow in size focus on those ones and drop the others.

Question and Answer sites:

The two most popular ones to focus on are Quora and Answers. You can get a ton of traffic from these sites. Just be careful not to spam your links in each answer as they are fussy in that regard.

Forums:

A simple google search will lead you to forums related to your niche. Choose the larger and more active forums as it will bring more traffic. The key here is to add value by helping and offering good advice and comments. Once you establish that your credentials forums can be a gold mine to bringing traffic to your site.

Article Marketing:

This was more effective and popular more than 5 years ago but I believe it can still bring a good amount if done diligently and correctly. Along with traffic they can boost you ranking by getting backlinks to your site. Some though are no follow which means you don’t get a backlink attributed to your site.

Popular articles sites are ezinearticles, goarticles, myarticles and github. There are many many more. I suggest you choose one and post an article there once every 2 or 3 days with a link pointing back to your site.

This method could be the most powerful of all the traffic sources. When starting out in blogging one of your first things to do would be to sign up to an email marketing platform. The one that I have used for years is Getresponse, they continue to evolve and improve their service and have found them to be one of the best. To start building your email list place links inside your blog posts and especially on the front page offering a free report in exchange for their emails. As you begin to build traffic and slowly build your list you will have a direct line of communication with your subscribers. This is very powerful way to keep you subscribers up to date with new posts and offers or products that you may have in the future.

Reddit:

This platform is one of the few goldmines still untapped but many marketers. Reddit can be fickle with what types of posts you can make. If you follow their rules and guidelines you wont have too much trouble.

First thing is find then join subreddits that relate to your niche. Then read their rules and begin engaging without promoting anything. Use similar principles to forums. Just add valuable information and get known for someone that is there to enrich the subreddit. Once you have get established and build up your karma you then mention you blog when making comments.

Classified Ads:

This traffic method is very underrated, when people think of classified ads they think of selling physical products. Using classified ads you can advertise services, products, jobs, announce community services and much more. Using some initiative you could sell or give away a pdf that contains your website links inside.

Giving away a pdf is an awesome way to warm people to what you have to sell or even get them to your site. I use this method still today. It’s easy to create a report that gives some value to the reader. Remember, giving value builds trust.

I use this plugin for ALL my sites and I would highly recommend you get it and use it for all you blog posts too. Once you install this plugin on your site, it’s settings and parameters will appear at the bottom. It will guide you with all aspects of your article outbound links, images, inbound links, keyphrases and so on. There is a paid and free version. The free version is all you need when starting out.
